Molex introduces Spot-On 1.5 and 2.0 products with innovative SMT packaged wire-to-board connector systems. The system not only improves processing capacity and mechanical reliability, but also protects against moisture in white goods that require a packaged system. Manufacturers selling home appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines and ovens will benefit from this product. The product supports currents from 1.0 to 3.0 amps and up to 36 circuits are available. In addition, the pitch of 1.50 and 2.00 mm allows this innovative connector to be placed in a smaller space than the previous package.
With the Spot-On connector system, Molex introduced a new product to the market that enables the use of central printed circuit board pins for SMT-type packaged connectors. During the operation of the product, the wire nail can absorb most of the stress generated by the temperature change, thereby preventing the welding position from cracking with use. In addition, the encapsulant sealant prevents moisture ingress and features an internal latching design that protects the latch from breakage. Each single and double row of Spot-On connectors is also equipped with a retainer for secure insertion of the crimped terminals; a fully mis-inserted, color-coded receptacle housing protects the cord assembly from misoperations; And equipped with an automated SMT mounting tailgate to save labor.
Akihiro Tezuka, global product manager at Molex, said: “We have been thinking about ways to help our customers solve problems. These Spot-On connectors are the industry's first products designed specifically for package processing and automated pick and place installation processes.”
Compared to the closest equivalent on the market, Molex offers more circuit count options, more color options, and a wider operating temperature range. In addition, the product also significantly reduces the possibility of electric shock or damage.
